Our nephew, Baby Benji, was born in August. It is the first baby for Tom's brother, so I thought I would make a quilt for him. I learned how to make this quilt at quilt guild.
It is much easier to make than it looks. I had tons of fun designing it and finding fun fabrics for it. A few of the fabrics are Laura Ashley prints that my mom bought over 30 years ago in England. It is fun to use them.
Whenever I make a quilt, I try to convince my mom to let me use her fancy machine for the quilting part of the project. My machine can handle the piecing, but not the quilting. This time, I decided to try out her stippling stitch, and I think it worked out well.
You can find basic instructions for the quilt here. And you can see an even cuter version of the quilt made by my fellow quilt guilder here.

Beautiful! I wish that I knew how to quilt. Hey you can totally say no, but is there a possibility that we could sleep over at your house on our way to Tucson Monday night the before Thanksgiving? We aren't sure if we will drive all day Tuesday or do the 1/2 and 1/2 thing. I just wanted to see if it was even a possibility. Let me know, email me.
thank you, thank you. it really is such a beautiful quilt. i appreciate the handmade love.
in fact, benji is laying on it right now! he loves it. the colors are so bright and perfect for his developing eyesight! merci. it will be handed down for generations.
Wow! this old folk is very impressed! As much as I can see with my poor old eye, gorgeous, course I might not be able to see much, huh?
OK, I've4 given you a hard time ... LOL from Jon & me. we have the best news for you. In 30 years you will pleasantly surprised at how old you don't feel most of the time!! Especially with how active you are, isn't the great?!?!?!? Funny girl.
The quilt really beautiful. I wish I could make time to spend working consistently on projects like that. Ihope you keep it up, it is quickly becoming a lopst art!
that is such an adorable quilt!
Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. Good job--I just knew you would become a wonderful homemaker!
Wow, very impressive! You say it is simple, but it doesn't look that way to me. I'm not much of a quilter, I don't have the patience, but I am getting better at sewing simple garments. I love the quilt, I think it is very cute! Excellent job!
Wow Liz now you have got to teach me. Golly through you I might become a little more domestic
I love how the stippling turned out. I'll have to try that on something one of these days!
I am impressed. I started one like that for Emily before she was born but it is still not done and she is 5. you have inspired me. I want to finish it!
I'm totally impressed! I haven't even made the simple jean quilt yet that I've intended to make for years! And I LOVE the tag you made for it. Aren't you the little graphic designer!
i can't claim credit for the tag. that was the baby announcement for benji made by my sis-in-law. and i haven't even made the jean quilt or the tshirt quilt that i have been saving all my old jeans and tshirts for for years.
You are so talented. That quilt is beautiful.
