Our Little Graduate

Yea for Kindergarten Graduation!
Porter's graduation program included the whole school and the whole evening (2 hours is a bit long, when your kindergartener takes part in the first 10 minutes). The bulk of the evening was devoted to some fun music by the 1st through 5th graders.

Ginger was his reading buddy at school. They were they only two in his class who read. So, they got to sit in the reading corner and read together often.

All nine kindergarteners sang "Would You Like to Swing on a Star." The basic gist of the song is go to school or you'll be mule with long ears, who kicks up at anything he hears, has a brawny back and a weak brain. Luckily, that is not our Porter except for the kicking up at anything he hears.

Our perfect little reader. Porter loves reading so much. He goes to bed every night with a pile of books (except for the week he had nightmares books were eating him).

We enjoyed Dairy Queen before and after the graduation.

Wow he is through with kindergarten. Were there only 9 kindergarteners in his whole school? Is is a private school. Only 9 in one class sounds way awesome. Was Porter reading before he started school? When does Eliza start school? I have at least 2 more years. Hey call me again about the babysitting or email me about the specifics. I just want to make sure I write the details on the calender.

Yes, only 9 kinders in the whole school. We sent him to Springdale elementary for that reason. It is the school by Zion, about 50 students in total. He was reading before he started. hooked on phonics worked for him. Eliza doesn't start until fall 2009. i will email you about the details. thanks.

that is amazing! I thought the school that Emily will be going to in the fall is small. They have about 80 kids in K-5th grade.

That is so great that he is a reader. I'm sure it will be a life-long love.

How cute is this boy in his little khaki jacket? Congrats to Porter on his graduation. Bravo, Elizabeth, for teaching him to read so early, what a great head start.

I love the cute pics of Porter and Eliza at DQ. I know we only moved a few days ago, but I find myself getting all sentimental and I already miss seeing their sweet little faces!
